These life-size, anatomical silhouettes are made from acrylic felt and embroidery floss. I shaped wooden reed hangers into head and shoulders to support each one, and blanket-stitched the cut-out shapes around the edge to conceal it inside. The organs were inset and stitched with decorative techniques. Having been stored with care, they’re in pristine condition barring some need of steam-pressing.

These seven artworks were included in my solo show at Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) Gallery in Oklahoma City in 1993. Inspired by emblematic and stylized depictions of the human body in texts at the time, I see these now as comments on the western approach to human physiology and health.
